Obituary of Roy Kennedy

Kennedy- Roy Leverne of Oneida Nation of the Thames (Turtle Clan), passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 12,2024 at the Victoria Hospital, London at the age of 75. Dearly loved husband of 36 years of Oveta Kennedy and loved dad of Daniel (Melissa), Kristin, Cynthia and Charity and was predeceased by children Roy and Ryan and was grandfather to many grandchildren. Dear brother of Darlene, Bev and Glen and was predeceased by siblings Maynard, Delbert, Archie, Royetta and Kay. Roy was the beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. 

Roy was born May 23,1948 in Oneida, the son of the late Wellington and Agnes Kennedy. Roy was a Rigger and Iron Worker for over 45 years, Detroit Local 25: and was a Foreman at Judd Contracting (Detroit) for many years until retirement. Post-Retirement: Roy enjoyed travelling, working on his yard, relaxing and spending time with Oveta, as they did everything together and were inseparable. He enjoyed many sports and was an avid Detroit Sports Fan. Roy was a gifted athlete, and his sport of choice was Baseball. Roy will always be remembered as a wonderful, kind, hardworking and loving Husband, Father and Man.

The funeral service will be held at McFarlane and Roberts Funeral Home 2240 Wharncliffe Rd S Lambeth on Monday March 18th at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow. Visitation at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 7-10 p.m. Donations to the charity of one’s choice. On-line condolences available through www.mcfarlane-roberts.ca
